On the day of Karam, an annual festival of Adivasis,
40 Swachhta Rath from 24 districts were flagged off in Jharkhand.

Karam,a harvest festival celeberated in Adivasi belt of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar, Madhusudana Pradesh, Chhattisgarh,Assam, Odisha and Bangladesh, is dedicated to the worship of Karam -Devta, the God of power, youth and youthfulness. It is celebrated for good harvest and health of people. 

Aware of traditional faith connected with Karam, the government today launched Swachhta Rath at district, block and village level. It is being carried forward to make people aware about cleanliness, solid and liquid waste management at all levels of society.

In all,40 Swachhta Rath from Jharkhand’s 24 districts were flagged off with the message of Swachhta Hi Seva2023. 


It was disseminated to about 74,379 villagers participated. Notably, Swachhta Rath was flagged off at district level by Deputy Commissioner/Deputy Development Commissioner, Panchayati Raj representatives and others were mainly present on this occasion

 

As part of the campaign, cleanliness drive conducted and oath for Swachhta Hi Seva was taken by people.
