Investigation by the Anti Terror Squad revealed that an inter- state gang was linked with West Utter Pradesh and Punjab in smuggling of narcotics -Opium. 

This came to light after a team of ATS arrested three persons and allegedly recovered 5 kgs of Opium, Rs 33,000 cash and a bike in Khunti, a tribal dominated district in Jharkhand, on Thursday. 

Three arrested persons were identified as Ram Singh Munda,a resident of Khunti,Virendra Dagi, a resident of Chatra and Raj Kumar Sao alias Chotu,a resident of Ranchi( Dhurwa). 

Among the trio, Munda and Dagi were Adivasis whereas Sao was OBC. 

The ATS SP Surendra Kumar Jha confirmed that the arrested persons were members of an “ international gang” involved in smuggling of opium. More details are expected to come out as the ATS is still investigating the case.
