Central investigating agencies are feeling unsafe in Jharkhand, it seems. After ED, now the National Investigation Agency NIA has written a letter to the Union Home Ministry and raised the issue of security of its office and officials.

Earlier the Ranchi based zonal office of the Enforcement Directorate had written a similar letter to Union Home Ministry informing it of the threat to its office and personnel who were investigating money laundering cases against top functionaries of the state of Jharkhand including Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

So is the case with NIA. It’s letter to the Union Home Ministry was responded by the latter.

In effect, Home Ministry is learnt to have written a letter to the Chief Secretary of the Jharkhand Government and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Jail and Disaster Management Department to strengthen the security arrangements.

Now this is being considered at the government level. Very soon, after the security audit, the security of NIA will also be increased, it is understood.

NIA had informed the Center that the National Investigation Agency is investigating many serious cases in the state.

Also,NIA’s investigation is intensifying against the currently banned Popular Front of India (PFI), a big Naxal organization and various terrorist organizations active in the state. In connection with the investigation, NIA officials have to go even to remote villages.

In such a situation, these organizations can target NIA officers and harm them. In response to the ED’s letter to the Center had apprised the state government’s top police and civil servants.

Notably, after receiving accurate information through surveillance, ED had raided the jail, in which it was revealed that a conspiracy was being hatched to harm the ED officials.

Those accused of money laundering in jail are in contact with Naxalites and gangsters, who keep an eye on ED officials and harm them whenever they get an opportunity. Even before this, ED had exposed the entire conspiracy.
