ED has once again dispatched a letter to CM Hemant Soren asking him to appear before it for second round of questioning at his official residence on January 29 or 31.

Earlier on January 25, Soren had informed the ED that he was “unavailable” for the second round of questioning between January 27 and January 31, as desired by the ED.

The ED had summoned him at its zonal office in Ranchi. Now, the CM Soren has to react whether or not he will abide by his summon. In his last letter, CM had conveyed to ED that he was busy for the State Assembly’s budget session from February 6 to February 29.

However, the ED is reported to be pissed off and thinks that it is part of CM Soren’s strategy to delay the investigation.

During the last questioning, the ED investigators told him that the agency would also require his questioning on another date.

Reports say that while he was quizzed, Soren replied that he had not purchased any land or that the 8.46 acres of land located at Bariatu in Ranchi were under his possession.

However, ED reportedly informed him that it had documentary evidence against him. “The agency wants to take the investigation to its logical conclusion”, say sources in the ED.

Records show that the ED had served him the first summons on August 14 last year. Soren was persuaded to be questioned on January 20 after ignoring seven summons.

However, in its eighth summons, the ED had reportedly warned him of severe consequences if he disobeyed their summon.
