Enforcement Directorate took Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren into its custody after interrogating him for hours today by the probe agency in an alleged Army land fraud case. 

ED took him in custody and took him to the Raj Bhawan where Hemant Soren handed over his resignation as CM to Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan who accepted it. 

Soren is the first CM in the country to get nabbed while holding the post of Chief Minister. He was taken into custody to be arrested after the ED interrogated him for over 6 hours on Wednesday. 

In its investigation into at least three money laundering cases, has allegedly amassed compelling evidence against Soren, implicating him in a land case, illegal mining, and coal mining in the state.

Meanwhile, JMM- Congress- RJD MLAs landed in Raj Bhawan by charted buses to claim the support of a majority in the Assembly. They claim to have elected JMM MLA and Minister Champai Soren as legislature party leader to become the successor of CM Hemant Soren.

Known as “ Tiger”, Champai Soren represents the Saraikela constituency in Jharkhand. 

Even Hemant Soren met Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan and resigned as CM. Before he handed over his resignation to him, Soren showed thumbs -up face to media persons.
