As many as nine law makers of the ruling JMM- Congress took oath as Ministers in the Champai Soren government today. 

 They were six from the JMM quota, including Basant Soren, Deepak Birua, Baijnath Ram, Mithilesh Thakur, Hafizul Hassan and Baby Devi, and three from the Congress fold-Rameshwar Oraon, Banna Gupta and Badal Patralekh. 

Three of them - Basant Soren, son of Shibu Soren and younger brother of ex CM Hemant Soren, Deepak Birua and Baijanth Ram are new faces in Champai government. The oath of office of Minister was administered by Governor CP Radhakrishnan. 

 Notably, Champai Soren took oath as chief minister along with Alamgir Alam (Congress) and Satyanand Bhokta (RJD) on February 2, after Hemant Soren resigned and the ED arrested him in the land scam.  

Behind the scene, Shibu Soren’s daughter - in- law Sita Soren who was contender for the Ministerial post was absent on the oath taking function at the Raj Bhawan.
