A BJP leader was murdered by Maoists in BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district last night. 

Shocking it may sound, but this is the first BJP leader who was murdered in Chhattisgarh in 2024. In any case, he is the eighth BJP leader who was murdered since last year. 

The deceased Triupati Katla was a Janpat Panchayat member and was living in the Bijapur headquarters area. Katla traveled around 15 km to attend a wedding in Toynar village. 

Around 8 pm on Friday when he was returning from the village, a a team of Maoists attacked him with sharp weapons. He was rushed to the district hospital in the headquarters area where he was declared dead. 

This is the eighth killing of a BJP leader by Maoists in the state since last year and the first killing of a BJP leader this year.
