April 1 is observed across the globe as Fools’ Day, an annual custom consisting of practical jokes and hoaxes.
However, this has nothing to do with the higher judiciary. Responding to the special leave petition filed by ex-CM Hemant Soren, who is in jail on charges of money laundering connected with a land scam, the Supreme Court is slated to hear it on this date.
Infact, the top court has fixed April 1 as the date for hearing his Special Leave petition.
Earlier, the Jharkhand High Court had on February 28 rejected his petition seeking permission to participate in the budget session of the assembly which started on February 23 and ended on March 2.
Soren, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case on February 2, had filed an application before the high court, seeking permission to participate in the budget session
