Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced new airports, medical colleges, highways in Bihar, and Special Financial Support for Andhra Pradesh in Budget 2024.
The Finance Minister announced the government's dedication to funding and completing the Pollavaram irrigation project, which is crucial for Andhra Pradesh and its agricultural community.
This year, more funds will be allocated to boost capital investment and foster economic growth. "Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act- Our government has made efforts to fulfil the commitments in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
Recognising the state's need for capital, we will facilitate special financial support through multilateral agencies. In the current FY, Rs 15,000 crore will be arranged with additional amounts in future years," said Sitharaman.
The government also announced a fund of Rs 15,000 corer for the development of the capital city of Andhra Nara Lokesh, Minister for Human Resources Development of Andhra Pradesh thanked the government for the announcements made for Andhra Pradesh.
The Prime Minister mentioned that the Bihar government's request for external aid from multilateral development banks would be fast-tracked.
The Union government has earmarked Rs 26,000 crore for various road projects in Bihar, as revealed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Budget for 2024-25.
The Centre will secure funding for the state through support from multilateral development agencies. In addition to road projects, the government plans to establish airports, medical colleges, and sports facilities in Bihar.
A comprehensive plan named 'Purvodaya' will be developed to promote overall development in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, the government will support the creation of an industrial corridor in the eastern region.
The finance minister also announced that the government will issue e-vouchers to 100,000 students annually, offering a 3% interest subsidy on the loan amount.
