*Ranchi based RIMS Dr. Istiaq Ahmad

Among six people who were arrested and eight detained during raids at 17 places-on charges of being members of the dreaded “Al-Qaeda-inspired terror module,is Dr Istiaq Ahmad of the state government managed RIMS hospital in Ranchi. 

Due to joint operation of Anti Terror Squad and Special Task Force, a terror out fit was busted in an intelligence-based joint move on Thursday.

Investigations revealed that it was an operation by the Delhi Police Special Cell, the Anti-Terrorism Squad in Jharkhand, and state police forces in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. 

According to the Special Cell, Dr Istiaq Ahmad of the RIMS, Ranchi was allegedly leading the module. He allegedly sought to carry out “serious terrorist activities within the country”. 

“The members of this module have been indoctrination and received weapons’ training at various locations in the country… Six persons were arrested from Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, while undergoing training to handle weapons.”
