Eighty-six-year-old Yashwant Sinha, former Union Minister and former BJP leader, who is the father of ex-BJP MP, Jayant Sinha, has floated a new party.
Billed as Atal Vichar Manch, Sinha’s move comes at a time when Jharkhand is heading toward the Assembly polls in 2024.
Known as a rebel of the BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yashwant Sinha has been opposing his leadership for quite some time.
After the BJP denied a ticket to Jayant Sinha in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and fielded Manish Jaiswal from the Hazaribagh seat, supporters of Sinha were aggrieved.
Now, when Yashwant Sinha sets up a political party, speculations are that the move was not without nothing. He will field candidates in the assembly constituencies. This can work against the electoral interest of the BJP.
This is mainly because the possible support base of Sinha and BJP is almost the same in select pockets of Hazaribagh, Chatra, and Giridih.
The candidates fielded by Sinha will slice away BJP votes as “ Vote Katwa”. named Bharata Chaitanya Yuvajana Party (BCYP) at a well-attended public meeting, ‘Praja Simha Garjana’, held in front of Acharya Nagarjuna University in the Guntur district on Sunday.
