Ranchi-Varanasi Vande Bharat train stopped at the holy pilgrimage site Parasnath station located in Giridih district of Jharkhand.

The event was welcomed by scores of Jains. “ We are very happy”, said Sudhakar Jain, a businessman in Ranchi, echoing the sentiments of his community.

Giridih MP and AJSU leader Chandra Prakash Choudhary and the state Minister Devi by flagging off function at Parasnath station. Parasnath is one of the most important pilgrimage centre for Jains.

They call it Sammed Sikhar. The hill is named after Parasnath, the 23rd Tirthankara. Twenty of Jain Tirthankaras attained salvation on this hill.  Every year thousands of Jains from across the country and abroad visit Parasnath, each facing untold miseries due to lack of comfortable rail links.

In view of their problem and demand of the people of Giridih to have a stoppage of the Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat Express train at Parasnath, BJP state in-charge Laxmikant Vajpayee had written a letter on July 13 requesting the Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav, to make a stopover of this train at Parasnath station.
