Jharkhand police and the State Bank of India (SBI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that provides financial assistance to police personnel in the event of their death.
As per the MoU, all categories of police personnel from the rank of constable to DGP will be covered by life insurance on their accidental death.
The police have been paid Rs 12 crore for this insurance package by the state government to provide economic security to its personnel.
During the inking of the MoU, senior Police officers including DGP R.K. Mallick, DGP Anurag Gupta and SBI Chief General Manager V. K. Bangaraju were present at the police headquarter. The DGP Anurag Gupta described the scheme as “ historic.” This will benefit nearly 70,000 police personnel.
The MOU covers 70,000 police officers in Jharkhand who are SBI account holders. The key benefits of the agreement include: Financial assistance- A one-time payment of one crore rupees to the family of a police officer who dies unexpectedly -Life insurance and accidental death cover Police officers covered by life insurance and accidental death insurance
The agreement is expected to improve the safety and welfare of police officers and boost morale in the state's police force.
