An Election Commission of India (ECI) team led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar reached Ranchi on a two-day visit to Jharkhand to review preparations for upcoming assembly elections in the state on Monday, were holding a meeting with top police officers on Tuesday.
The ECI team reviewed the preparations with District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police from all 24 districts, the Chief Secretary, and the DGP.
The team, also comprising Election Commissioners – Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, had met representatives of political parties, especially representatives of six national parties including BJP, Congress, and CPI(M), and three regional parties – JMM, RJD and AJSU.
After the meeting with political parties, the Election Commission team is scheduled to hold a meeting with officers of Enforcement agencies.
Also, the EC team met the Chief Electoral Officer, State Police Nodal Officer, and Central Forces Coordinator to review the preparations.
Jharkhand Assembly elections in Jharkhand is due later this year 2024.
