Upset over being ragged by senior students, Shantanu Paswan, a fresher in the Netarhat Residential School, consumed phenyl. He is undergoing treatment at Sadar hospital in Latehar district headquarter of Jharkhand. 

Reports say that senior students allegedly ragged Paswan by insulting him and thrashing him for not obeying to their ‘crazy demands’. 

 The students, both pursuing their Class 8-10 course, had humiliated Paswan umpteen times. 

This prompted him to drink what was available in the hostel -phenyl on Saturday- Sunday.

Reports said Paswan was not able to put up with the ragging and so decided to take the extreme step. Police are on the lookout for the senior students who were “ mercilessly” ragging Paswan  

The college authorities said they were investigating the incident.
