Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the Kantatoli flyover by driving his car. Kantatoli flyover has been constructed by the state Department of urban development to ease traffic movement in the state capital during the festive season. 

While the flyover was thrown open for commuters, the construction of two ramps planned near Kantatoli and Bahu Bazaar, would to begin hereafter. 

The inauguration comes ahead of the Assembly polls 2024 whose schedule is expected to be notified next week. 

Urban Development Secretary Sunil Kumar held a review meeting on the progress of the project last week. He had directed the officials to finish the construction at all costs by the end of this month.

This happened as per his directive. An official of the Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (JUIDCO) is on record having said, “All the 42 spans and 486 segment boxes of the flyover have been put together. 

The laying of a black top on the flyover lane has also been completed. Bituminous concrete and mastic asphalt layer works are underway to make the flyover motorable for traffic.” 

The construction of the 2.4km flyover began in 2021 and was scheduled to be completed late last year. A total of Rs 203 crore has been invested in the project.
