The Election Commission of India has observed that the notification issued by the state government to transfer Deputy Commissioner of Deoghar, Manjunath Bhajantri as DC cum District Election Officer( DEO) violated the ruling of the Jharkhand High, Zee News reports.
In its letter to Chief Secretary, the ECI has directed the abide by the high court’s ruling and its directive dated December 6,2021, said the same report.
In this letter, the ECI had cited the court’s order to direct the state government to remove him from post of Deputy Commissioner and initiate disciplinary action against Deoghar DC Bhajantri.
In the same letter, the ECI had directed the state government not to transfer Bhajantri in any post connected with holding and supervising the process of elections.
