Jharkhand Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma on Saturday directed all Civil Surgeons and District Health Officers to strengthen and depute staff to increase trend of institutional deliveries at the Primary Health Centres(PHCs) in the state.

While speaking to these CSs and DHOs through video conference from inside her Project Bhawan office in Ranchi on Saturday,the CS directed them to ensure that all PHCs provide service for institutional deliveries by September 15.

A good news is :Jharkhand public health centres had witnessed an increase trend from 64 to 75 percent in institutional deliveries during the past one month.The target was to make institutional deliveries possible in 3500 PHCs,said the CS.

Also,the CS directed them to issue show cause notices to those poor performing CDPOs and hold ‘Health Camps’ in every Panchayat.”Ensure cent-percent Bed Occupancy and antenatal care of pregnant women”,said the CS.

Notably,taking about the victims of snake bites in rural areas,the CS said:”Medical Officer in Charge will be responsible for any snake bite death.”The Additional Chief Secretary in-charge of Health Department K.Vidyasagar was present in the meeting.
