In first of its kind incident at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi,a student died in a bloody clash between two groups of students. 

The deceased has been identified as Raja Pasawan, who was studying there, according to reports. The clash took place on November 14.  

Police had reached the campus and launched a probe.However, the cause of clash between them remains a subject of speculation.

Sadar DSP Sanjeev Besra said Raja Paswan who was badly injured,was admitted to RIMS for treatment but died undergoing treatment. 

The BIT police station in-charge is investigating the case and the accused are being identified.  

Aware of the seriousness of the case, a medical board has been constituted and the post-mortem of the deceased student is being conducted.

Surprisingly, no information about the clash was received by the BIT Police Station, located a short distance from the campus on the day of the incident. The police reportedly received information only after the death of the student came to light.
