That Chief Minister Hemant Soren is determined to keep his electoral promise to provide Rs 2500 per month to beneficiaries of Maiyaan Samman Yojna became evident on floor of the state Assembly on Wednesday.

The Assembly approved a supplementary budget of Rs 11697.45 crore for 2024-25 after Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore presented it minutes after aGovernor Santosh Kumar Gangwar addressed the State Assembly. 

The supplementary budget carried highest provision of Rs 6390.55 crore for the Women and Child Development Department, which runs the Maiyaan Samman Yojana. 

Under the Maiyaan Yojna, the Hemant Soren government has decided to hike the honorarium from Rs 1000 to Rs 2500 for every woman monthly in the 18-50 age group. 

After this, there is a provision of 2577.92 crores for the Energy Department, 445.96 crore for the Home Department, 272.80 crore for Primary Education, 170.15 crore for road, and 250.06 crore for animal; husbandry. 

Soon after the supplementary budget was approved, Speaker Ravindranath Mahto adjourned the proceedings of the House till 11 am on December 12.
