The Chief Minister Hemant Soren is likely to disburse an enhanced amount of Rs 2,500 to beneficiaries of the Maiya Samman Yojana from his constituency Barhait in Santhal Pargana. 

 

Soren who is slated to visit Barhait on December 14, may disburse the enhanced amount of the Maiya yojna during his upcoming visit to Barhait, it is learnt. 

 

The physical verification of benefigiaries of Maiya yojna,a flagship scheme credited with contributing to the INDIA bloc’s significant victory in Jharkhand, is being planned. 

 

Notably, in a key move during the special session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore presented a supplementary budget of Rs 11,697.45 crore for the 2024-25 fiscal year. 

 

Of this, the highest allocation of Rs 6,390.55 crore is earmarked for the Women and Child Development Department to fund the Maiya Samman Yojana. 

 

The scheme, aimed at empowering women aged 18 to 50, will now provide an increased monthly payout of Rs 2,500 to beneficiaries. This initiative reflects the government’s focus on women's welfare and development. 

 

Other major allocations in the budget include Rs 2,577.92 crore for the Energy Department, Rs 445.96 crore for the Home Department, Rs 301.89 crore for Secondary Education, and Rs 272.80 crore for Primary Education. 

 

The Assembly session also featured the Governor’s address, following which the House was adjourned until December 12. The upcoming proceedings will include a motion of thanks on the governor’s address, a debate, the government’s reply, and a vote of confidence.
