From Ranchi to Jamshedpur to Dhanbad, communities around Jharkhand began welcoming 2025 with spectacular light shows, embraces, and crackers.

Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha, and Bihar welcomed the New Year 2025 with vibrant celebrations and spectacular fireworks displays.

Hundreds gathered to witness the dazzling fireworks as the world marked another rotation around the sun, with Ranchi leading the way as the first major city in eastern India to ring in the New Year, followed by Jamshedpur iconic Jubilee park festivities.

Towns, villages, and cities around the world have welcomed the New Year 2025 with celebrations. This special time allows people to reflect on the year that has passed, acknowledge its challenges and triumphs, and look forward to fresh starts and new opportunities in the year ahead.

It's a time for grand celebrations and reflection, setting the stage for positive moments with family and friends as we embark on a new chapter of possibilities.

Although countries across the globe are moving upwards to usher in the New Year, the festive spirit in some regions in eastern India have been marred because of the weather.

Ranchi witnessed heavy clouds and cold wind blowing, causing picnickers to flock around waterfalls and other tourist sites, while the police are keeping a close vigil on drunk drivers and lawbreakers in Jharkhand, home to over 10 million Adivasis.

Jharkhand has followed other neighbouring states in welcoming 2025. Odisha has seen its first new year since Adivasi CM Mohan Charan Majhi of the Bharatiya Janata Party took oath after his party defeated BJD founder Naveen Patnaik in 2024.

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana Soren celebrated the new year 2025 with family members in Ranchi.
