BJP Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash gained relief today when Jharkhand High Court quashed the FIR filed against him and others at Kanke police station, Ranchi.  

The single bench court of Justice Anil Kumar Choudhary also set aside the MP- MLA court’s directive to frame charges against him and others in the same case.

In fact,the case dates back to 2021. And on May 3,2023, the special MP/MLA court in Ranchi framed charges against BJP state president and member of parliament Deepak Prakash, Kanke MLA Samri Lal and 12 others for staging an agitation in June 2021 demanding waiver of farmer’s loans, fair prices for crops and availability of adequate amount of seeds. 

The charges were framed under Sections 188, 269 and 270 of IPC, Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act and Section 3 of the Epidemic Disease Act. 

Representing the BJP leaders, advocate Sudhir Srivastva said the charges were read out before the accused persons who denied them. He said the trial of case would now come to an end.
