Last year on the 2nd Marathon 2024,Neeraj Mahto with his 4.6 years old son Lakshmi Narayan on his shoulder, took part. And they were photographed and displayed by the CIL through posters and banners in the capital city of Jharkhand for its 3rd Marathon 2025.

A year later, today, apparently,encouraged by the CIL having picked them up in its display Marathon- promotion advertisements, Neeraj Mahto, his wife, Khushbu Kumari and their two sons- Laxhmi Narayan(5.6 years) and Jai Narayan ( 2.9 years)- got themselves registered for the 3rd Marathon. They seem to have proudly participated in the event this morning.

Not the least, they were the star attraction on the dias( see the picture of JharkhandStsteNews.com) inside the Birsa Munda Football stadium in Ranchi on Sunday morning.

Asked what is their message,Neeraj Mahto, Assistant Engineer,the state government’s  department of building construction, said that his wife Khushbu Kumari, who was an athelete during her school and college days,want citizens of different age groups should jog, run and practice daily to  participate in the Marathon of the CIL.

“The kids should be encouraged by parents to adopt jogging and running as  hobby for their healthy life”, said Khushbu Kumari, a house wife.

Neeraj Mahto, Khushbu, Laxmi and Jai were among hundreds of persons who took part in the Marathon 2025 in Ranchi.

In fact, Coal India Ltd (CIL) under the aegis of Ministry of Coal (MoC) organised 3 rd Marathon 2025. And this Marathon 2025 was sponsorsed and had the support of Rs. 1 Crore from the Coal India Sports Promotion Association (CISPA) fund. 

As a result, this mega event was held through its subsidiary Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) in Ranchi, Jharkhand on February 9. 

CIL and its subsidiaries have continuously contributed to social upliftment by implementing impactful Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) new initiatives across the nation in alignment with the government’s vision and setting new benchmarks in the CSR domain for others. 

The marathon, opened exclusively to the runners (male and female), who are staying in any part of the country was participated in any of the four categories i.e, Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10 Km and 5 Km. Registrations were opend online (https://centralcoalfields.in/cilranchimarathon) and enthusiastic runners from across the country were encouraged to participate in this exhilarating upcoming event, which is aimed at inspiring a culture of health and wellness among the youths.  

The said website was inaugurated by Shri Nilendu Kr. Singh, CMD, CCL in presence of dignitaries including Directors in Ranchi. The Coal India Ranchi Marathon route started and ended at Birsa Munda Stadium in Morabadi, Ranchi. 

The route for the 2025 marathon was:From Birsa Stadium to Ambedkar Chowk Right for about 4 kilometers Back.Right side of Kanke road.

The route was certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). Hundreds participated in the event.
