Amid the steps taken by state administration to regulate traffic and deploy security forces to maintain law and order on the arrival of President Droupadi Murmu in Ranchi to attend the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of BIT Mesra as the chief guest on February 15, 2025, to mark the institute's 70 years of academic excellence, research, and technological innovation,the cops are facing untold threat from law breakers - thieves. 

In one incident recorded by the police station in Mesra,these thieves struck on the house of a family members who had gone to Prayagraj to take holy dip in the holy water of Triveni. 

Their house is located inside the Vastu Vihar colony in Mesra, 7 km from Ranchi. Their act of theft was recorded on the CCTVs. 

“These thieves were on the move. We are trying to nab them”, said a senior police officer on condition of anonymity. 

 Ahead of the President Murmu’s visit, the cops are struggling to locate these sprawling thieves. In any case, the BIT, Mesra’s program will also be attended by dignitaries, policymakers, academic stalwarts alongside the institute’s notable alumni, who have excelled in diverse fields globally. 

A press statement issued by BIT Mesra has stated that the institute, founded in 1955 by industrialist B.M. Birla, has been at the forefront of technical education, producing generations of scientists, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. 

Additionally, the institute has also contributed to diverse sectors including aerospace, information technology, and healthcare, playing a vital role in shaping India's progress.
