Call it a game changer move. The beneficiaries will be fishermen. And the stake holders are a number of government institutions.
They are the Department of Fisheries, Government of India, and Jharkhand State Fisheries Department.
In collaboration with National Institute of Fisheries Post Harvest Technology and Training (NIFPHATT) and National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), these government fishery departments are set to host an important workshop on Value Addition in Pearl Cluster in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand on February 19,2025.
This initiative is part of the Modi government’s ongoing commitment to fostering sustainable aquaculture practices and enhancing the economic potential of the pearl culture sector.
Government of India has notified Pearl Cluster at Hazaribagh, Jharkhand vide its Notification No. J- 117012-3/2020-Fy dated 30.08.2024.
The establishment of the Pearl Cluster in Hazaribagh marks a significant step in transforming the region into a vibrant hub for Pearl farming and trade.
This workshop aims to provide stakeholders, including fish farmers, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts, with the knowledge and tools needed to add value to their products and improve their market reach.
A Workshop on Value Addition in Pearl Cluster at Hazaribagh, Jharkhand will be organized on 19th February 2025 at Suchna Bhawan, Old DC office, Near District Board Chowk, Hazaribagh in association with NIFPHATT, NABARD, Department of Fisheries, Jharkhand and NFDB.
This workshop will be inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. H. N. Dwivedi, Director, Department of Fisheries, Jharkhand. Status of Pearl cultivation in Hazaribagh cluster / Jharkhand will be delivered by Dr. H. N. Dwivedi, Director, Department of Fisheries, Jharkhand. Dr. Shailesh Saurabh, Principal Scientist, CIFA, Bhubaneswar will make a presentation on “Breeding and prospects of Pearl Culture”.
Shri Gautam Singh, DGM, NABARD will explain about “various schemes” with regard to Pearl cultivation. Dr. Manmohan Kumar, Assistant Professor, College of Fisheries, Gumla will be presenting the status of “Freshwater Pearl Culture”.
An interaction with farmers and entrepreneurs of Pearl Cluster including their success stories will be followed.
On concluding part, Dr. J.S. Meena, Deputy Director, NIFPHATT, Visakhapatnam will present “The Role of NIFPHATT in Value Addition”.
