

Hours before the PM Narendra Modi landed in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, 50 Naxalites, including 14 with a cumulative reward of Rs 68 lakh on their heads, surrendered in neighbouring Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday.
Naxals learnt to have laid down arms in front of senior officials of the state police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
"They surrendered citing the hollow and inhuman Maoist ideology, exploitation of tribals by senior cadres of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) as well as differences brewing within the movement.
They are also impressed by security forces setting up camps and the 'Niya Nellanar' (your good village) scheme under which forces and the administration are providing basic amenities in remote areas," PTI report quoted Bijapur Senior Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav as saying.
The mass surrender comes after a series of operations against them by security forces and declaration by Home Minister Amit Shah that the country will be free of Naxalite violence by March 31,2026.
For instance cache of weapons and ammunition were recovered.Earlier, 30 Naxals were killed in Bijapur and Kanker.Also,operations intensified and
at least 16 Naxals were killed in Chhattisgarh on March 29,2025.
