Hazaribagh reels under communal tension even as security forces have been deployed in strength to main law and order, and its Deputy Commissioner Smt Nancy Sahay has been keeping vigil over them.

Tension escalated in Hazaribagh following a clash between two communities of Hindus and Muslims during the former’s event of “ Yagya” and procession near a mosque in Barkatha on Sunday.

According to the police, the scene quickly worsened as stone-throwing occurred, and some individuals set fire to straw piles in the locality.

The district administration deployed security forces. Now, the police confirmed that the situation is under control.

Incidentally, Hazaribagh is communally sensitive district where scuffle had broken out in Ichhak area on February 26 over the use of sound system.The situation escalated into stone pelting. The authorities intervened and after security forces were deployed, normalcy was restored by quick action of the Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner Smt Nancy Sahay.
