Jharkhand’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested four individuals, including a woman, in Dhanbad for alleged connections to banned extremist organisations Hizb ut-Tahrir (HuT), Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and ISIS.

The operation, conducted on April 26, led to the recovery of illegal arms, electronic devices and extremist literature, according to an ATS release.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ghulfam Hasan, Ayan Javed, Shahzad Aalam, and Shabnam Parveen.

ATS officials stated that multiple teams conducted searches at several locations based on intelligence inputs. During the raids, two pistols, 12 cartridges, several mobile phones, laptops, and a substantial quantity of documents related to banned organisations were seized.

A criminal case has been registered at the ATS police station in Ranchi and further investigation is ongoing.
