Scores of final semester meritorious undergraduate students of Ranchi-based St. Xavier’s College appear to have a genuine grievance.

Their grievance is this. By not accepting their repeated request and demand to conduct Bachelor Degree final examinations before admissions start in the top universities of the country including Delhi University where admissions take place on the basis of ranks acquired in the Common University Entrance Test( CUET)in August, they will not be able to get admitted there on merit.

The authorities of St.Xavier’s College, an Autonomous College affiliated to Ranchi University, are slated to hold the exams of final semester graduation students in September.

With their dreams in mind with CUET ranks in hand, they have met the St.Xavier’s college authorities and sought preponing the final semester examinations in July, but in vain.

Among these students is Sunil Munda( name changed to protect identity). He, a student of Ranchi-based St.Xavier’s College, who is preparing to appear in the graduate examinations, aims to do post-graduation from Delhi University. He has already appeared in the CUET and secured a rank.

“ If our college ( St.Xavier’s college, Ranchi) does not accept our plea for preponing the final semester graduation examinations in July, we will not be able to get admitted in Delhi University”, he cribs.

St. Xavier’s College Principal Dr. Fr. Robert Pradeep Kujur, was not available for comment. However, a senior teacher of this college said that management had taken note of the students’ demand. “Wait for our response”, he said on condition of anonymity.

Munda is not an isolated case of a meritorious undergraduate student. He is among at least 5,500 CUET-selected students of St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi. They have a common dream of pursuing post-graduation from high-ranking universities where admissions are allowed to CUET-selected students on merit.
