The death of Barua who was the coach and had trained a number of international women hockey players including Team India Captain Salima Tete and contributed a great deal in promotion of hockey in Jharkhand,has generated grief among hockey and sports persons across the state, especially Simdega and Khunti.

“We have lost priceless jewel”, weeps Sushil Kumar Verma who is a dedicated football coach with 45 years of experience in Jharkhand and now at Shamayita Sports Academy in Amarakanan, Bankura.

She was the head coach of the residential hockey training center in Khunti, Jharkhand, and played a key role in bringing national recognition to Jharkhand's women's hockey. Barua also previously coached in Simdega, where many players progressed to national and international levels.

She suffered from Paralysis. She was admitted at Paras hospital in Khunti where she was in ICU. She breathed her last this morning at around 8.30 am.

Several sports persons such as Hockey Jharkhand General Secretary Vijay Kumar Singh,Khunti based District Sports Officer Rajesh Kumar Choudhary and Khunti Hockey Sangh President Ashok Bhagat express condolences and prayed for peace of the departed soul.
