The FIR lodged on Tuesday revealed that the sale and purchase of illegal country-made arms was going on in the steel city, Jamshedpur.
The FIR was filed at Kadma police station in Jamshedpur,under sections of the Arms Act against two buyers Lalit Yadav (33) and Rakesh Kumar (30) and one dealer, Sharukh Khan (29).
These persons have been arrested and arms and ammunition seized from their possession.
Police said, acting on a tip-off, their personnel raided Marine Drive Road at Ramnagar beside Kharkhai River in Kadma police station area on Monday (June 2, 2025) and nabbed the trio following a chase as they were trying to flee. This information was provided by (City) Kumar Shivashish.
 As per the FIR, two buyers, identified as Lalit Yadav (33) and Rakesh Kumar (30), had come to the spot to purchase a firearm from arms dealer Sharukh Khan (29).
“Police seized two country-made pistols and three cartridges.”
The SP said Khan has criminal antecedents and a case has already been lodged against him. He said a police investigation is underway to find out the source of the arms. A case under sections of the Arms Act has been lodged, he added.
Prior to this on May 21, the Jamshedpur police, in yet another major crackdown, had arrested one person for possessing illegal firearms, exposing a racket involved in arms smuggling and repair. The arrested accused was identified as Mohammad Khalik (35), a resident of Darbhanga district in Bihar.
