“The flow of easterly wind is likely after June 10 in the state, which might help the development of a system and the progress of monsoon”.
This is the prediction of Deputy Director at Ranchi Meteorological Centre, Abhishek Anand of the India Meteorological Department(IMD) on the possibility of the arrival of monsoon in Jharkhand.
If IMD is to be believed, Monsoon rains are likely to pour in Jharkhand by the weekend and after June 12, 2025.
Normally, the date for the onset of monsoon in Jharkhand is the second half of June. Records show that it has been reaching Jharkhand between June 12 and June 25 since 2010.
Till now, rainfall from June 1 to June 7 has been normal over Jharkhand. The state has received 19.2 mm of rainfall against the normal of 19.4 mm during the period.
As per the IMD’s prediction, more than ‘normal’ rainfalls is expected during the period of monsoon.
