It is indeed worth taking note of a significant and symbolic development in the functioning of the Lokpal of India. The Full Bench of the Lokpal, which serves as the apex anti-corruption body in the country, has recently adopted a new motto, thereby replacing the previous one. This change is not just a matter of words but represents a renewed commitment to the institution's core values and mission.
The new motto — "Empower Citizens, Expose Corruption" — powerfully encapsulates the dual objectives of the Lokpal. It emphasizes the importance of citizen empowerment as a cornerstone in the fight against corruption, acknowledging that active public participation is crucial in ensuring transparency and accountability in governance. At the same time, the motto reinforces the Lokpal’s unwavering dedication to rooting out corruption from all levels of public administration.
To visually symbolize this fresh vision, a new logo has also been unveiled. The logo features human figures, a stylized depiction of the Ashoka Chakra representing the national spirit, and saffron and green elements reminiscent of the Indian flag — all merging together to create a bold identity that is both patriotic and people-centric.
The logo and the motto together signify a robust resolve to uphold integrity, empower the common man, and promote an accountable and corruption-free society. This change marks a new chapter in the evolution of the Lokpal institution, one that is more responsive, inclusive, and committed to its role as a guardian of public interest.
