From tears to a smile on their face was a transformation that appeared to have taken place in the body language of family members of the martyr police constable Sunil Dhan.
They thanked the Chief Minister on Wednesday( June 18, 2025), Hemant Soren handed over a cheque of financial assistance amounting to Rs 1 crore 20 lakh to them.
This financial assistance was under the state’s Police Salary Package. It was given to the family members of martyr Constable Sunil Dhan.
Also, the state Home Department had credited an amount of Rs 1 crore 46 lakh 26 thousand 972 to the bank accounts of the martyr's dependents on Tuesday.
The family members of martyred constable Sunil Dhan of Jharkhand Jaguar (STF) had met CM Soren at the Chief Minister's residential office located at Kanke Road, Ranchi. On the occasion, Soren handed over a cheque of financial assistance amount of Rs 1 crore 20 lakh issued under the State Bank of India, Police Salary Package, as honorarium to the family of martyred constable Sunil Dhan.
The CM talked sympathetically to the family of the martyr jawan and inquired about their family situation. He said that the state government is always supportive of the family of the martyr. He said that constable Sunil Dhan has given his supreme sacrifice while serving the people of the state, we salute his martyrdom.
Martyr constable Sunil Dhan's 65-year-old mother Fagni Orain, 29-year-old wife Gandari Dhan and two sons Priyansh Dhan (5 years) and Aniket Dhan (3 years) along with other family members were visibly smiling as they interacted with the CM and shared detailed information about the family situation.
The CM asked the family to provide good education to their children. He told the wife of martyr constable Sunil Dhan that under the provision of the state government, she can do a government job on compassionate grounds if she wants.
Mother of martyr constable Sunil Dhan, Fagni Orain told the CM that her ancestral home is in Kanti Pohra Toli of Karra block in Khunti district where farming is available for income. On the occasion, the CM directed the officials present that all the benefits available to the family of the martyr should be provided to them soon. Connect the family with other benefits including pension.
The officials informed the Chief Minister that the process related to giving pension amount has been completed. The concerned family members will start receiving pension amount from next month and all the processes related to giving other benefits have been completed.
It is known that on 12 April 2025, during a special raid operation against Maoists in the dense forest of Ratamati village of Chotanagra police station area under Chaibasa district, Constable 361 Sunil Dhan deputed in AG 11 of Jharkhand Jaguar was seriously injured due to IED explosion, he was airlifted to Ranchi for better treatment where he attained martyrdom on 12 April 2025 during treatment.
Principal Secretary Home Department Vandana Dadel, DIG Jharkhand Jaguar Indrajit Mahatha, Senior DSP Jharkhand Jaguar Sunil Kumar Rajwar, Deputy General Manager State Bank of India Ranchi Zone Manoj Kumar, Chief Manager State Bank of India Vikas Kumar Pandey and other officials were present on the occasion.
