In light of adverse weather conditions, Ranchi district in Jharkhand, authorities have declared a holiday for schools as a precautionary measure from June 17 to June 21, 2024.

Ranchi District Collector Manjunath Bhajantri announced the decision on June 18 morning, confirming that schools in will remain shut for the next four days.

The move aims to ensure the safety of students amid the continuing downpour and heavy rains in the backdrop of the IMD’s forecast and placing the area in Z category on June 19 which can disrupt normal life in the plateau terrain.

The Ranchi district, known for its steep slopes and dense vegetation, is particularly vulnerable to trees and road blockages during the monsoon season, prompting timely action from the administration.

Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have advised residents, particularly those in low-lying to remain alert.

Officials have also urged motorists to exercise caution while travelling through the ghat roads, which are slippery and hazardous in the current conditions.
