Traffic has been disrupted across the Tata-Ranchi main road. The Bodam-Patamda road near Pardih Kali Temple has also been submerged, leaving numerous vehicles including cars, buses, and trucks stranded or fully underwater. Movement of large vehicles through Pardih has been completely halted.
A flood-like situation has emerged in Jamshedpur following relentless rainfall, severely affecting the area around NH-33 near Pardih Chowk and Ashiana Woodland. Water has entered over 100 homes, submerged vehicles, and brought traffic to a standstill, forcing authorities and residents to use boats for rescue and relief operations.
The situation worsened due to ongoing construction work by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) near NH-33 at Pardih Chowk. Locals allege that unplanned digging and blocked drainage channels led to rainwater accumulation.
With no proper outlet for the water, the entire Ashiana Woodland residential area was inundated. The floodwater rose up to the first floor of many duplex houses overnight, submerging expensive vehicles and household items.
Eyewitnesses reported that the water began rising steadily after midnight and, by morning, had completely filled the area from Pardih Kali Temple to Ashiana Woodland. Residents described scenes of panic as belongings floated and roads turned into rivers. Many homes are still under waist-deep water, and boats are now being used to evacuate residents and deliver essentials.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall has caused the Bamani River’s water level to rise significantly. Water is now flowing over the bridge on Chandil Dam Road, disrupting movement between Chandil Market and the subdivision office. Commuters are being redirected via NH-33 roundabout and Mukhiya Hotel.
This is the first time in recent memory that the area has witnessed flooding on such a scale. Local authorities and residents are working together to manage the crisis and provide immediate relief, but continued rainfall could further aggravate the situation.
