• The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is spearheading a major infrastructure expansion in Jharkhand, with a cumulative investment of approximately ₹6314 crore, covering more than 226 kilometres of roadway.

This initiative includes a combination of new project launches and the inauguration of completed works, which are expected to significantly boost connectivity, safety, and economic development across key districts of the state.

• Under the foundation stone laying segment, four major projects are being initiated. The CG/JH Border to Gumla road project, valued at ₹1326 crore, is part of the Raipur–Dhanbad Economic Corridor.

The 32.37 km greenfield alignment will bypass congested town centers like Rupsera, Raidih, Silam, and Gumla, enhancing traffic flow and safety while catalysing development in a forest, tribal-dominated region.

Another key project includes the construction of eight high-level bridges on NH-143 in Simdega district, with an investment of ₹31.32 crore. These bridges will ensure safe and uninterrupted traffic movement.

Additionally, a 27.42 km widening of the Murgatal to Manpur section of NH-218 is being undertaken at a cost of ₹94.45 crore to improve connectivity between West Bengal and Jharkhand through Purulia – Bokaro – Coal City Dhanbad.

Also in the pipeline is the construction of a high-level bridge over the Damodar River along with a ROB in Bhowra(Dhanbad) on NH-218, worth ₹283.63 crore, which will improve mobility and aesthetic beauty in the coal belt region.

• In the inauguration segment, several vital projects have been completed and are now open for public use.

Among them, the Palma to Gumla section on NH-23, developed at a cost of ₹1883 crore, spans 63.17 km and forms part of the Raipur-Dhanbad corridor.

It significantly reduced travel time and supporting industrial connectivity for Dhanbad-Bokaro—Ranchi-Gumla-Jashpur-Korba and Raipur.

The Barhi to Koderma four-lane section on NH-31, constructed with ₹825 crore over 27.5 km, reduces travel time between Barhi & koderma by up to 30 minute, and supports trade in Hazaribagh and Koderma and tourism in Tilaiya Dam & Koderma Forest. In Ranchi, a 4.18 km elevated corridor on NH-75, built for ₹558 crore, will decongest city roads cutting the travel time by almost 30 minutes.

• Additionally, a 22.73 km four lane highway from Sankha to Khajuri is constructed on NH-75, at a cost of ₹1129 crore cuts travel time between Palamu & Garhwa to 30 minues and connects to famous Baba Banshidhar temple.

This vital stretch boost the trade of Chotanagpur area having many stone quarries in Palamu, Garhwa & Latehar  area fulfilling the demand of construction material to whole Jharkhand.

The Giridih town road widening on NH-114A (8.95 km, ₹18.02 crore) reduces urban traffic congestion, while the widening of the Godda to Sunderpahari section on NH-333A (18 km, ₹99.39 crore) and the Barahat to Tulsipur stretch on NH-133 (14.85 km, ₹65.84 crore) enhance inter-state connectivity and promote inclusive development in the Santhal Pargana region.

• Together, these projects represent a transformative leap in Jharkhand’s highway infrastructure, reinforcing commitment by Govt. of India for regional integration, economic growth, and safer, more efficient road transport.
