The third day of the Taxpayers’ Hub Outreach Programme unfolded with a vibrant series of events that blended educational engagement, policy discussions, and cultural pride, furthering the department's vision of inclusive and participatory tax administration.

Educational Competitions for School Children

The morning began with a quiz competition for school children in Ranchi, aimed at fostering awareness about taxation and civic responsibilities from a young age.

This was followed by a debate competition for students of Classes 10 to 12, which saw enthusiastic participation from multiple schools.

Ashutosh from Kendriya Vidyalaya emerged as the winner of the debate competition. The prize distribution was carried out by Principal Chief Commissioner Shri Jayant Mishra, and Chief Commiss- ioner Shri Ranjan Kumar, who encouraged the young minds to become responsible citizens and future taxpayers.

*Nukkad Natak and Cultural Showcase*

A compelling Nukkad Natak was presented by the Awaaz group, using street theatre to highlight the connection between taxes and everyday life. 

 

Later in the day, a cultural program featuring local artists celebrated the rich heritage of Jharkhand. Folk dances, tribal performances, and regional songs highlighted the state’s diverse cultural tapestry and left the audience enthralled.

*Technical Sessions by the Department*

The day also included insightful sessions on technical and policy issues:

A session was conducted by Team I & CI Patna, led by Shri Rupesh Agarwal, IRS, offering clarity on return filing, TDS provisions, and recent changes under the Finance Act.

A presentation on the New Income Tax Bill 2025 was delivered by Shri Ashok Jha, IRS, CCIT Mumbai, who elaborated on the structural changes proposed in the bill. Drawing from his vast experience across key domains like audit, investigation, and assessment, he addressed practical challenges and implementation aspects.

A Q&A session followed, jointly led by Shri Ashok Jha and Shri Vinod Agarwal, CIT, DTRTI Hazaribagh, which enabled participants to clarify doubts related to updated returns, ITR filings, and procedural reforms.

Arrival of Chief Guest and Guest of Honour

The Department was honoured by the presence of Shri Ashok Bhagat, noted social worker and Secretary of Vikas Bharti, who was felicitated for his lifelong commitment to the development of tribal communities in remote villages. A recipient of the Padma Shri (2015), Shri Bhagat addressed the gathering with a message of civic responsibility and inclusive development.

The Guest of Honour was Shri Syed Nasir Ali, IRS, a distinguished officer of the 1990 batch who retired as Pr DG (HRD), New Delhi on 31st May 2025. His address drew from his illustrious three-decade career across multiple roles in the Income Tax Department and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The entire program was organised by the core committee which comprises of Shri Ranjan Kumar, CCIT, Ranchi; Shri Amitabh K Sinha, PCIT, Ranchi, Ashish Deharia, Addl CIT, Range-1, Ranchi and Range-TDS, Ranchi and All members of all Committees.
