Despite the search launched by forest personnel, the wild elephant has remained traceless in Latehar town of Jharkhand on Monday.
On Sunday, this wild elephant was spotted in the Dharmpur area of Latehar, causing panic among people there.
The same elephant has reportedly broken the boundary wall of a house owned by a woman.Having learnt about its entry,a team of forest personnel tried to drive it away.
Subsequently, the elephant reached the police line and broke the wall of a house there.
This created a sense of panic among people who had gathered there in large number. Then, the elephant reportedly moved along the track of Latehar railway station and reportedly went toward Tarwadih only to disappear from there.
Forest officer Nand Kishore Mahto said that this elephant had lost and got separated from its herd. “ We are still searching it”, he said.
Prior to this, on April 20, Forest officials had successfully rescued an adult elephant from a 10-foot-deep well at Hemna village in Latehar district following a nightlong operation.
The elephant had fallen into an unmarked well, which was level with the surrounding field and lacked protective barriers.
On April 18, the same elephant had killed 35-year-old Sunita Devi in nearby Marangloiya village in Latehar, a district confronting from Maoists and wild elephants for long. Now, while Maoists were almost neutralised, wild elephants continued to rock Latehar.
