The demise of her husband Shibu Soren appears to have caused profound distress in life of his wife Roopi Kisku Soren.

As the funeral procession started at official residence of former CM and Rajya Sabha MP in Morahabadi Maidan, Ranchi on Tuesday(August 5,2025) morning for cremation in his ancestral village Nemra, Ramgarh district, the last sight of  Shibu Soren’s corpse clearly impacted her emotionally, socially.

Roopi Soren, 70-plus in age, who has been ailing and moved around in wheelchairs, was in tears. His loss for Roopi Kisku Soren appears to be one of the most stressful life events for her.

She had lived with him for around five decades. Now, with life partner gone, she is potentially leading the feelings of deep sadness, isolation, and a sense of lost identity.

Dishum Guru Shibu Soren was married to Roopi Kisku in the 1960s. He had three sons, Durga Soren, Hemant Soren, and Basant Soren and a daughter, Anjali Soren.

Her son, Hemant Soren is the Chief Minister of Jharkhand currently and was the CM previously from July 2013 to December 2014.His elder son late Durga Soren was MLA from Jama from 1995 to 2005.

Durga's wife, Sita Soren is former MLA from Jama, but is now in BJP. Basant Soren is president of the Jharkhand Yuva Morcha, a youth wing of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and current MLA from Dumka.

Though all members of the Soren family were in a state of grief, Roopi Kisku Soren has become widow. This has left her without life partner.

The CM Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana Soren who looked after her mother Roopi Soren have an emotional bond.

“Respected Guru Dishom (great leader) has left us all today( August 4,2025). I'm left with nothing," Hemant Soren wrote in a post on X.Now, in a sense of his father, he has added responsibility to fill up the ‘lost identity’ stress.
