The Congress today sought to distance itself from the on going tussle of power between two ruling allies-BJP and JMM.

The Congress’s state unit incharge Shakeel Ahmad said that though it was keeping a close watch on it,the party has nothing to do with their dispute. But he made it clear that his party was not infavour of imposing the President’s rule in Jharkhand

When asked what would be the response of the opposition Congress,if the JMM decides to withdraw support to the BJP led government and the Arjun Munda government falls,Ahmad said:”We will intervene and take decision toward forming the government after two months.”

Ahmad’s stand has gained significance in the light of the fact that the JMM is slated to hold a meeting of its top functionaries in Ranchi on Sunday to decide whether it continues to support the Munda government or withdraws support to it.
