The Kolkata International Wildlife and Environment Film Festival has given the lifetime achievement award to elephant specialist Parbati Barua.

She hails from the erstwhile royal family of the Baruas of Gauripur, now in Assam’s Goalpara district. Barua has been awarded for her tireless work on wildlife conservation.

Other awardees reportedly include eminent industrialist and wildlife filmmaker Navin M Raheja and ‘Green Oscar’ winner Ashwika Kapur.
