The Governor of Jharkhand, Draupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Raghubar Das has conveyed warm greetings to the people on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. 

This morning, Governor along with Chief Minister and other ministers went to Mohrabadi Maidan in Ranchi to pay floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi's statute.

While addressing the gathering after paying floral tributes, the Governor said - "On the day of Independence Day, Republic Day and Gandhi Jayanti, everyone should wear khadi clothes. This will be beneficial to the poor and people will enjoy wearing their home made clothes.It will be our true tribute to Bapu".

Chief Minister Raghuvar Das said that Bapu has received the title of Mahatma due to his dedication, allegiance, truth and devotion to the country. "Our government is on the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi. We are working to promote self-reliance, self-respect, self-government and good governance. People are being trained to produce products from forest produce" - he said. He further added that Jharkhand being located in nature's lap, production of Lac and Tasar is the highest in the country. He said, Board created for the research and development of Lac and Tasar cultivation is helping thousand of tribal farmers to earn decent livelihood and in the process various products made from Lac and Tasar are exported to all corners of the world.

CM Raghubar Das also remembered former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. He said that Lal Bahadur Shahstri, with his work and high ideals have enhanced the respect of the soldiers, the farmers and the country. "Simplicity and honesty of Shastri ji inspire the people even today" - he said.

On the occasion, people trained by the Jharkhand State Khadi Board were given 16 sewing machines, 12 lac kits and 10 charkha.

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dinesh Oraon, Urban Development Minister, C.P. Singh, MP Ramlal Chaudhary, MLA Ramkumar Pahan, Jitu Charan Ram, Gangotri Kujur, Mayor Asha Lakra, Chairman of Social Welfare Board Usha Pandey, Tana Bhagat community's representative and other guests were also present on the occasion.
