*Devotees throng Durga puja pandal in Khunti on the occasion of Maha Saptami

The vibrant festival of Maha Saptami, marking the beginning of the grand Durga Puja celebrations, is being observed with great enthusiasm across Jharkhand. Pandals, are beautifully decorated as the people of the state come together to offer prayers to Goddess Durga.

In cities like Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, and Bokaro, the streets are abuzz with activity. Large-scale pandals, some of them showcasing innovative themes and traditional artistry, are attracting devotees in huge numbers. The idols of Goddess Durga, meticulously crafted by skilled artisans, stand majestically in pandals that are brightly lit with intricate lighting setups.

Maha Saptami marks the day when the idol of the Goddess is invoked, and rituals begin in full swing. Devotees line up to witness the “Pran Pratishtha,” the ceremony where the Goddess is infused with life through chanting of mantras and the performing of rituals. Traditional dances like Dhunuchi Naach, where devotees perform with incense burners, create a mystical atmosphere, adding to the religious spirit.

In smaller towns and villages, the celebrations take on a more community-centered approach, where locals actively participate in organizing small-scale pujas. In tribal areas of Jharkhand, Maha Saptami is often celebrated by fusing local traditions with the Durga Puja rituals. The rich culture and indigenous customs of the state are also showcased through performances of tribal dances, folk songs, and community feasts.

Security measures have been ramped up in all major towns, with local authorities ensuring smooth management of large crowds.

Maha Saptami sets the tone for the upcoming grand festivities of Durga Ashtami, Navami, and Vijaya Dashami, and the state of Jharkhand is filled with devotion and joy as people prepare to celebrate the triumph of good over evil.
