Over 200 students of a government school in Jharkhand have left their studies following lack of sanitation facilities.

Kasturba Gandhi Residential School in Seraikela-Kharswan district has only five toilets because of which girls were forced to defecate in the open, where they were teased by local miscreants. As a result girls have stopped attending their classes.

The students say the hostel security was also not adequate. Youngsters from the nearby villages could enter the school as it has no boundary wall and harass the hostel inmates.

The students have pledged that they will not go back to the school till the time the school authorities do not get sufficient number of toilets constructed and tighten the security,
