The Election Commission of India (ECI) Election Commission has disqualified Hemant Soren from Membership of the Legislative Assembly under section 9A and of the People’s Representation Act 1951 for availing a stone mining lease in Ranchi in his name while he is the Chief Minister as well as minister of the mining department.

The EC had kept its verdict reserved in the office of profit case against CM Soren on August 12.

The EC has communicated its decision to Jharkhand Governor. However, Principal Secretary to Governor Nitin Madan Kulkarni preferred not to comment.
