In bypolls that were held to six assembly constituencies in five states, INDIA camp ally JMM candidate Bebi Devi managed to retain Dumri Assembly seat by defeating NDA ally AJSU candidate Yashoda Devi by nearly 3000 votes.
The JMM had fielded its MLA and late Jagarnath Mahto's wife, Bebi Devi, who is representing the India bloc, against AJSU Party's Yashoda Devi and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM)'s Abdul Rizvi.
Bypoll in Jharkhand's Dumri, held on September 5, was necessitated after the death of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Jagarnath Mahto.
