Consider this first.40 cash counting machines. These machines have been counting cash recovered by the IT sleuths from 10 premises of the Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu in three states of Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand. 

Till now over Rs 300 crore cash was counted. The IT raids, recovery of unaccounted cash and counting had started on December 6.

The recovered cash was reportedly so huge that 40 note-counting machines are likely to take two to three days more to conclude the exact amount of unaccounted cash seized from the premises of Sahu and his family members. 

The IT officials say that in the history of the investigating agency, these huge sums of unaccounted cash were recovered in a single operation is the highest sum. The question is what was the source of these huge sums of cash? 

Sahu who has switched off his mobile number preferred to remain quiet. Inquiry revealed that Sahu is one of three sons of late Baldeo Sahu who had built an empire from country liquor production and sale in the Lohardaga district in Jharkhand. 

After his demise, his three sons -Shiv Prasad Sahu, Gopal Sahu and Dheeraj Sahu inherited the liquor empire. Subsequently, Shiv Prasad Sahu gained a Congress ticket and got elected as its MP, Ranchi during 1979-84. He died in 2001.  

Subsequently, while Gopal Sahu, a businessman contested Ranchi Lok Sabha only to get defeated in 2019, Dheeraj Sahu was promoted by the Congress high command as Rajya Sabha MP twice. 

The first time during 2010-16 and the second time in 2018 for a term of six years. The question is what was the source of these huge sums of cash? 

Sahu who has switched off his mobile number has preferred to remain quiet. But the Congress party leaders including Rajesh Thakur who said: “Nobody knows what is the outcome of IT recovery. Some reports say 50 crore some say 200 crore.

Even the PM is saying based on media reports. Nobody knows the truth.” On the other hand, the BJP is aggressive against the Congress. 

It’s workers organised processions and dharnas demanding stringent action against the Congress leadership of Rahul Gandhi who was considered close to Dheeraj Sahu as the party’s “ fund provider.”

BJP state unit chief and ex-CM Babulal Marandi suspects that the huge cash recovered by the IT from Dheeraj Sahu’s premises “is part of the same sums of cash which was transported by forming ‘green corridor’ after the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids against some IAS officers and others in Ranchi early this year.”

“The huge sums of black money belong to the Congress and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren”, ex-CM Marandi is on record making this allegation.
