Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren is facing the threat of revolt within the ruling JMM, reports indicate.
With CM Soren and his wife Kalpana Soren moving around together happily, his younger brother Basant Soren has reportedly turned hostile.
Basant Soren, who held a number of portfolios under chief ministership of former CM Champai Soren, was axed by the CM Soren.
He lost ministership after Hemant Soren came out of jail on bail in the money laundering case linked with an alleged land scam and took oath of office of the CM on July 4.
In response to a query by media persons as to why Basant Soren was not given ministership, CM Hemant Soren had replied that he did not want to face the charge of “ pariwarwadi”( pursuing family based politics).
Neither Basant Soren had opposed or supported the CM Hemant Soren’s stand. However, India Today had reported that Hemant Soren had secured the signatures of the JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) MLAs on two blank papers to submit it before the Governor and succeeded in taking oath of office as CM.
Alongside, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had earlier claimed that a “rebellion” has broken out in Soren's house over the chief minister's post in the state. He said 18 out of 29 MLAs were not in favour of Soren's wife Kalpana.
"18 MLAs of JMM want Basant Soren to be the chief minister," Dubey is on record having said while speaking to news agency ANI.
Basant, who is the younger brother of Heman Soren, a sitting MLA from Dumka,is reportedly in league with ex CM Champai Soren.
Already, his sister- in- law Sita Soren had quit the JMM led by CM Soren, joined the BJP and contested the Lok Sabha election only to lose it on June 4.
The authenticity of the reported feud between Soren vs Soren vs Soren is not known. Ahead of the forthcoming Assembly polls before the end of 2024, political ups and downs in the state are expected to unfold sooner than later.
